Once again, the media has worked itself up into a frenzy speculating on what Apple will do with Beats Music. It all emanates from a single line in a Wall Street Journal article, “Apple is rebuilding Beats Music and plans to relaunch it next year as part of iTunes, according to a person familiar with the matter.”

Hardly a substantive, definitive statement – and a no comment from Apple.

A more interesting part of the article talks about the world market. Curiously, it states that in Japan there is “little streaming business to speak of.” And Japan is the second biggest music market!

Massive opportunity there. Licensing agreements with Japanese music companies are still being hammered out so once licenses are in place, streaming music may escalate very quickly.
