Listen Now ads have begun showing up on artist’s search results from Google. Spotify, Google Play, Rhapsody, and Beats Music are the services that have appeared.
The difference between a Listen Now ad and a regular ad is that Google has grouped together the music services — simplifying and streamlining the consumer’s experience.
Google tests often, so time will tell if the Listen Now ads will stay as they currently look. “Watch Now” ads have been seen for movies available in digital stores; maybe other digital media will have ads grouped and labeled to give consumers less friction in making a decision — in turn driving more clicks, which makes Google money.
Streaming music services still need as much promotion as they can get — anything that gets them in front of potential customers is a plus.
