Beats Music will launch in the U.S on January 21, 2014.

The basic info:

Beats Music is an on-demand music streaming service – this means you search for the song or album you want and listen to it on your computer, smart phone or tablet (Apple iOS, Android, and Windows phone).

Free to try. If you like it, Beats Music will cost $9.99 a month – there are no commercials.  AT&T customers will be offered the service for $14.99 per month for up to five accounts.

Beats Music is focusing on being a real service as opposed to simply a library of music. They have employed many tastemakers (e.g. DJ’s, radio programmers, music writers, musicians) to make 100’s of playlists.

From there, the Beats Music technology (algorithms) will take these human curated playlists and deliver the right combination for your taste. No easy task!
